1-12 Not Exactly a Walk in the Park

Welcome back to the Trollsims. In their last chapter the girls spent the day together, hanging out, playing games and telling stories to celebrate Noels last day as a child. Noel was looking forward to becoming a teen, she really would rather skip being a teen altogether, but rules are rules.

Everyone was looking forward to what ever the day may hold for them and Noel couldn't wait for the day to start. Casseil was up early and baked a cake for Noel, but instead of watching the birthday girl blow out her candles, everyone had more pressing needs to attend to.

Noel didn’t want to wait another moment, she had spent most of the night thinking about what she wanted to do now that she had completed her childhood aspiration of being an Artistic Prodigy. She couldn’t wait to start a new one, but decided it would be something more grown up rather than another childish dream. She spent the day before just playing with her sister and just being a kid for a day. Now she was ready to take on the world.  She wasn’t going to wait any longer, she was more than ready for the next stage of her life to begin!

“I wish to have a happy life full of family and love! Even if I don’t get to carry on the next generation.” She thought as she blew out the candles. The sparkling lights were so pretty, she was almost sad that none of the family saw them, but it was her own fault for being impatient, not her family.

She spun around and took a good look at herself. Not too bad, but all those hours sitting around drawing hasn’t helped her waist any. “I have got to get into better shape! Dad! I want some exercise equipment for my birthday!” Noel yelled to her father. She was beginning to get sad, but before she could dwell on it her sister walked in. (Noel has the gloomy trait just like her father, and her Aspiration is Successful Linage)

“Awe, no fair! Why didn’t you wait for me? I wanted to throw confetti!” Jolene whimpered when she came out of their room.
“Well, I didn’t expect everyone to dash off as soon as I walked up to the cake, where were you?”
“I had to beat dad to the bathroom! Why does he have to use OUR bathroom all the time?”
Noel laughed, “Mom was in the other one. Looks like a new bathroom is going to be needed also. I’m going to shower, fix my hair and see about some new clothes, this is cute, but it doesn’t exactly speak ‘teen’. Then you and I can go to the park. ”

“Noel! Happy Birthday! You look so beautiful! You look so much like your mother. I’m very proud of you for completing your childhood aspiration, what do you want to do now?” Trevor asked her.
“I want to have a Successful Lineage, whether I become heir or not I want to have a happy family. You and mom have been a great couple, and the best parents, I want to be just like you guys!”
“I think you will be able to do anything you want to do, and with that aspiration you can enjoy being a teen instead of working so hard to complete your goals!”

“That’s right dear,” Casseil said, “You tend to get goal focused and forget to just enjoy life. I have that same aspiration and I assure you it will take you most of your life to complete it, I’m still working on mine. Be patient about your future. That is the best advice I can give you now.”
“Thanks mom, I appreciate you so much. Dad I promised Jolene we could spend the day at the park, are you up for a day of fishing? Mom would you like to come too?”
“I think I will stay here and just relax, and tend the garden. You guys go ahead and have a fun day!” Casseil said lifting the book in her hand.

So Trevor, Noel, and Jolene travelled to the park in Oasis Springs. Jolene was determined to make lots of new friends. She had already met a lot of people, but now she needed to make friends outside of her family. The first things she did was run off to play on the spaceship jungle gym. There were 3 other kids over there and she couldn’t wait to join them.

Noel headed for the chess table, she was beginning to feel a bit sad and felt that she needed time to herself to contemplate things. Growing up was nice, but for some reason she just wasn’t happy today. “Hmm, Dad has days like this too, looks like I’m getting equal influence from both parents.”
She wasn’t alone for long, which was better for her mood anyway. Johnny Zest, or was it Zest Johnny and a local gardener came over to talk with her.

“So Z J why exactly do you insist on having your last name first?” The gardener asked him, which was a big mistake, evidently this is a bit of a soft spot for Johnny.
“Look! It’s not my fault Sim City Hall messed up my name change! Even though I put the names in the right order, someone typing it into the systems mixed up the first and last names! My name is supposed to be Johnny Zest.”

“Ha, that’s rich, and next you’re going to tell me that the rumor about you being the Landgrab’s oldest son is true also.” This really set Johnny off and his verbal tirade soon had the gardener quacking in his seat. Johnny wasn’t on speaking terms with his family, and who could blame him. His father was oblivious to the evil living in his own home. Nancy and Malcom both had plans to take over Sim Nation someday, but no one would really believe him. Nancy had convinced Geoffrey that their oldest son would squander the family fortune and would much rather pay off those that would keep their secret than admit that Johnny had ever been part of the family. Most sims didn’t realize that he wasn’t insane.  Noel thought all of this rather funny and fascinating, she soon found her gloomy mood had vanished. Johnny was one of the first sims her father met when he found himself in Oasis Springs. They weren’t great friends, but Trevor felt he was a good person, it’s no wonder he doesn’t want people thinking he’s actually related to those people.

She decided to try her hand at cooking a few hot dogs, and just as she sat down to eat one she saw her sister leaving the play area. She was so mad she was turning different shades of red.
“I HATE people, they are so mean! None of them liked any of my space jokes, and they have NO idea how to captain a real spaceship! No imagination at all!”

“Well, not everyone thinks Geek you know. Some of them don’t even watch Sci-Fi shows.” Noel told her. She wanted her sister to calm down but knew she should tread gently, Jolene was really, really mad! If Jolene knew what she was doing she would never calm down.
“Are you kidding me? Why would anyone play on a spaceship without watching Sim Trek or Next Simeration?” Jolene asked her in disbelief. These were her favorite shows to watch on the computer, Simflix had every show out there and she had been catching up on all of the classic Sci-Fi shows. Kids her age watch the kid’s network, and other silly stuff like dancing bunny rabbits.

“Every sim likes different things, and sometimes the best way to make friends isn’t by talking about what you like, but learning about what others like. “
“I guess I always figured people would want to know all about ‘us’ since we are the most interesting family in town, but I guess that’s kind of rude huh. Thanks sis, maybe I’ll be able to get to know them better at school. That is if they will even talk to me after I told them all how lame they were.”

“Well, if they don’t it’s their loss. Do you want to come home with me or stick around with Dad? I want to run a bit on the treadmill before I go to bed.” Noel simply had to get her thinking about things in a different light and she would soon be feeling better and she was right. Jolene was feeling much better and wasn’t ready to go home just yet.

“Naw, I’ll stick around, maybe some new kids will come to the park and I can try again to make a new friend.”

Noel headed home and decided to hit the treadmill, she is determined to slim down some. It’s tough enough being green, but to be big and green isn’t a good look for a girl. At least she didn’t think so. Casseil told her it’s not the outside that matters, but who she is inside. “Well, I like who I am on the inside,” she thought, “but I’d sure feel much better if my outside matched my inside.”

Trevor wasn’t having any luck catching fish at all. He caught a ton of plants a few upgrade parts and a big fat log. When he realized how late it was he went looking for Jolene. Some kind lady that lives at the park was helping her do her homework. Trevor felt rather foolish for not spending time with his girls, but sometimes he just gets lost in fishing and forgets about everything else.

Jolene and Trevor were both very tired by the time they headed home from the park. They both had had big plans for the day, and neither one of them accomplished anything that they had set out to do. “I’m sorry you didn’t make any new friends today, most of the sims around here are really great once you get to know them, but getting past their suspicions of us takes a bit more time. You’ll make new friends, maybe not as fast as you would like, but you’ll make some true friends eventually.” Trevor told Jolene on their way home.

“It’s okay Dad, I think I was just overly excited about making friends that I forgot that to make a friend means you have to BE a friend first. Noel reminded me about that.” Jolene replied.
Casseil was waiting up for them when they got home, and after tucking Jolene into bed she and Trevor sat down to talk for a moment. “How was your time at the park? Noel didn’t say much about it, just that Jolene spent most of her time with her,” she asked Trevor.

“Well, she had a bit of a rough day, she just couldn’t seem to say the right things to any of the kids there. She was very disappointed in not reaching one of her Social Butterfly goals.” He told her. “It seems she gets along much better with adults than she does with kids her own age”
“Oh dear, that’s probably my fault, we have some pretty good debates about which is the best Captain, and our favorite Sci-Fi shows. I’m afraid most kids find that stuff pretty boring.” Casseil said.

“She’ll be alright, Noel was really wonderful in making her feel better. She really will make a wonderful mother someday, though I hope she slows down and enjoys being a teenager. She has always wished she was a grown up rather than a child,” Trevor replied.

1-11 The Troll Prince

Life in the Trollsim home goes on much like any family. Noel has been busy with her art and just in the nick of time completed her Artistic Prodigy Aspiration. She worked through most of the night to complete it thanks to a sleep replacement potion. Most of her artwork was proudly displayed on the walls in her room, along with some of her favorite paintings by her mother.

"Mom! Tomorrow is Noel’s birthday. We are going to spend the day playing together, she said we could play all day! She’s so cool! She knows so many of your stories and I can’t wait to play with the doll house with her! Can we surprise her with a birthday cake, I’ll keep her busy so she doesn’t know anything about it while you bake her a cake!"
"That sounds like a wonderful idea, I would love to have your help." Cassiel and Jolene were now very good friends.

The girls were looking forward to the next day, Noel would finally be a teen and was looking forward to heading to high school on Monday. Jolene was thrilled that it was still the weekend and she could spend the day hanging out with her big sis.

“I can’t believe our little girl is going to be a teen tomorrow, it seems like just yesterday we were changing diapers and washing bottles,” Casseil said with a sigh.
“I have been so lucky to have you and so are they! You’ve been the best mom and wife, I couldn’t ask for anything more. We may not be ready for Noel to age up, but I know she sure is! She’s ready to take on the world, and now that she has completed her aspiration she is more than ready to move on to the next life stage,“ Trevor replied.
“That is true, she sure is confident in herself, which is all I could ask for! I’m feeling pretty confident myself, what do you say we move this into the bedroom, the girls are fast asleep, a freight train running through their room wouldn’t wake them up.” Casseil said in her best flirty voice.
“You always know just what I want, before I do,” Trevor said with a wink.

The next morning Noel was the first one up. She was up even before the sun. As she sat down to a bowl of salad Jolene came out to join her.

“You didn’t wake me up! I want us to spend the whole day together, since you probably won’t want to do kids stuff much after tonight it’s our last day to just hang out.” Jolene said as she grabbed herself a bowl too.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t forget, I was just so excited about all the stuff we have planned today. So what do you want to do first?” Noel asked her.

“We can play tag outside, then rest upside down on the monkey bars. Then maybe collect a few fossils and gems, you like doing that don’t you?

Then when we are tired of running around we can have the brave troll rescue the princess from the tower of the evil king’s castle! What do you think, did I forget anything?

Oh wow, that sounds like the best day ever! I’m so glad we are sisters!

The girls did everything they could outside until they were tired and hot and ready for a few hours of make believe in front of their dollhouse.

“Help me, somebody, anybody, please rescue me from this castle! I don’t want to marry the evil king, even if that would make me Queen of the land. Oh won’t someone please rescue me? She gazed out her window but saw no one for miles around, only a little bird singing in a nearby apple tree. It all seemed hopeless for the princess, and time was running out, she had a week to decide to marry the evil King or he would send his army to destroy her father's realm.

Far, far away a young and brave troll prince was checking the borders of his father’s kingdom. It was his responsibility to see to the safety of the northern border. He was just about to return home when a blue bird flew by and landed in the tree beside him. “Hello little blue bird, what brings you so far south?”

“Kindly troll, I bring word from the northern most kingdom, the Princess of Laughter has been captured by the evil King of the Dark Realm. He is going to force her to marry him so he can take over her father’s kingdom! She calls for help from any brave knight or prince, and swears she will marry the brave soul who rescues her.”

The troll prince had heard of the Princess of Laughter, and the Evil King was his greedy great Uncle. He was once a valiant troll prince himself, but a dark spell corrupted his heart and now he sought to wipe out all happiness everywhere. The good prince knew he must save the princess and he set off immediately. He traveled for three days and nights for his uncle's kingdom was far to the north and over the mountains. Soon he was at the edge of the kingdom. The blue bird had stayed with him and was his eyes in the sky, flying ahead to scout out and warn him of dangers. The good prince was very tired, trolls can travel very far without stopping, but even a troll must rest once in a while. The prince knew he needed to rescue the princess that night but he also needed to regain some strength. He sent the blue bird to her with a message, and then found a safe cave nearby to rest in.

“Princess, I am the troll Prince of the Southern Realm, this little blue bird brought me news of your plight and at midnight I will find my way into the castle to rescue you.” The bird told her. “The good price is resting, he traveled three days and three nights without stopping to get here and he is tired and hungry, he didn’t stop for anything but water and ate the few berries and fruits he could find as he ran.”

“My, what a brave prince he is, I have heard of his father and their kingdom of light! Little blue bird, take him this special berry, it will relieve all of his hunger and weariness, and enhance his sight so that he may see in even the darkest of places. I have made a friend in the kitchen, she will put a special onion in the king's dinner tonight that will make him sleep deeper than normal, along with his guard so that he may sneak in easily. Tell him that I am locked in the highest tower, and the door is enchanted, only a few people in the king’s employment can go through it, but I cannot.”

"Oh Noel that’s the best story ever! But if neither of them can go through the door how will he rescue her?"
"Well, what do you think? That is all I have so far, why don’t you help me come up with the rest of the story and we rescue the princess together?"
Jolene thought for a moment, “Hmmm well if he can’t come through the door then he will have to come through the window, he’s strong and can climb up, but he can’t climb down with her, he’s strong and brave, but that is just too much for a princess, climbing down a tower in the middle of the night.”
"That’s what I was thinking, so we need a way for them both to get out of the tower safely, this is where I got stuck too, but I’m sure we can think of something."
"Oh oh oh! I’ve got it! The blue bird!"
"What about the blue bird? No don’t tell me, just tell the story it will be better that way!"

The little blue bird flew back to the young troll prince with the magical berry in his beak. It was a magical blackberry. He woke the prince and gave him the princess’s message. The prince looked at the blackberry and took one small berry from it and offered the rest of it to the blue bird. “My friend, I know you have traveled farther than I these few days, and you have helped me on my journey, take this berry and refresh yourself, I know you must be as tired as I am!" The blue bird chirruped and fluffed his feathers, “Thank you kind prince for your generosity, I will forever be your friend, your kindness has earned my loyalty and you may now know my secret.” The little blue bird shook his feathers stretched up his neck, and stretched out his wings. He began to shimmer and in the light the prince thought he began to grow, but no I’m just tired and I’m seeing things. He blinked and rubbed his eyes and when he looked again the blue bird had grown into a giant bird, large enough for a man to be carried on his back.
The prince stood there in awe, he had heard of the great blue bird, but thought it was just a myth, or that he was long gone from this world. The prince knelt before the great bird, "Oh mighty king of all the creatures of the sky, I am honored to meet you, and I will be your humble servant all the days of my life.”
“My dear friend, you do not need to serve me, you have shown me that you have a pure and true heart and have placed my well being above your own already, I will gladly ally with you in friendship and as equals, you needn’t serve me, but work with me to restore balance to all of our kingdoms.”
And with that they flew to the castle and saved the princess from the evil king.

"Wow Jolene that was amazing! That was the bestest story ever. I love how the blue bird was a great magical creature! You totally should be a writer like dad when you grow up! Kids everywhere will love your stories!"

"Awe thanks sis, I couldn’t have done it without your great story either, so I say we work together to tell magical stories."
